Hotel Information

Hi everyone,

I have received many questions about which hotels to book in the Huron area. There are three main hotels, all right next to one another, all equally far from the wedding and reception areas. The ceremony will be in Wolsey, which is about 12 miles from Huron, and our house, where the reception is planned for, is about 10 miles from Huron, but because there are no hotels in Wolsey, this can’t really be avoided. Sorry if this causes any inconveniences.

The three hotels I would recommend are listed below. There is also a very nice, clean motel on the outskirts of town that is closer to the house by a mile or so, if you’re interested in that sort of thing. That is also listed below. The only hotel that I know of to avoid would be the Dakota Inn. We’ve heard bad rumors about it. Also, the Super 8 is the only one with a pool.

Please try to book early, so we can ensure you get put up for the nights you’ll be in town. We will be blocking off a small amount of rooms for last-minute guests, but if you can, it would be your best bet to reserve your own room. Keep in mind that this will be Memorial Day weekend so it is possible that Huron will be busier than normal.

Best of luck booking rooms and call with questions!

"They shall become one flesh."

Then man gave names to all livestock and to the birds of the heavens and to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a helper fit for him. So the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and while he slept took one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh. And the rib that the LORD God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man. Then the man said, “This at last is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.” Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.

Oh, Canada, Twooo!

Here are more of my favorite photos from Canada. These are getting into the western side a little more, by Banff National Park and so forth. It's such a pretty area up there!
Enjoy!

The beautiful Lake Louise in Glacier National Park gets its turquoise color from melting of the glaciers.

Adi and I in front of Takkakaw Falls.

Adi is obsessed with pennies. She roots for the underdog. (Is that bad if she makes the blog more often than either Boe or myself? Hmm.)

I thought this shirt was way cute, and very appropriate for my family, all of whom are from Southern Canada (a.k.a. Northern Wisconsin), eh?

All that's missing is Gramma on the rocker!

We finally closed on the house! It happened Aug. 18, and Boe and I got to spend our very first night in our new house! I was so happy to be there! We immediately started moving in, ripping up casino carpet, as Boe called it, and tiling two rooms, one of which is huge! Here are a couple shots from the weekend.
More to come.

Meet Jed's cousin, Boe Clampett, as he leans against his Clampett-mobile, clad in sandals and Key overalls. Someone even took a photo of our rig as we headed to East River South Dakota!

Both Boe's parents and my own were so very helpful laying tile and moving in this weekend!

Poor, poor Peanut. Rolled up forever in the Casino Carpet.

We're so glad to be rid of the dirty, stinky, ugly Casino Carpet.

Instead, we have pretty, clean, neutral tile!

Oh, Canada!

Hi everyone,
I hope all is well elsewhere. I'm in Canada, Calgary, Alberta, to be precise, on a study abroad course for Chadron State. It's been fun; however, we have been traveling long hours and eating some crazy food. I tried sushi, and I'm just not a fan! I don't have a sophisticated palette, apparently; I'd rather mow down a burger!
Tomorrow we are leaving Calgary in pursuit of Banff National Park. That's not supposed to be too long of a trip, I've heard, and we'll spend some time there, taking more photos and playing tourist.
I'll return from Canada on the 16th. From there, my parents and I will be headed to Wolsey to close on the house and move in. I think the closing date is really going to stick this time!
Enjoy!

The view from the tower is simply breathtaking! Cliché, but oh-so-true!
