Thanksgiving!

Hi guys,
I know it's only Halloween, but I am very, very excited for Thanksgiving this year. It will be the first time in almost two years that I will get to see my relatives! I have not seen either sets of grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, or cousins (except Auntie Lisa) since I moved out at Christmas 2008.
In our defense, Boe and I tried to go to Hurley for Christmas last year, but the roads were terrible. In any case, he hasn't met any of my family members and that stinks.
We are going to Door County the Monday and Tuesday before Thanksgiving to pull T-posts from our old house for our new house (weather permitted!) and hopefully have a potluck with our DoCo friends.
Wednesday we will make our way to Hurley and celebrate Thanksgiving and an early Christmas with family, then we will travel back to Wolsey Saturday, and Chadron/Scottsbluff Sunday.
We will travel roughly 44 hours throughout the week, 48 for Mom and Dad, if the weather is ideal. Hopefully it will be! Otherwise it may just be another Thanksgiving at Boe and Savanna's.
Fingers crossed!
Miss you all!

Laundry

I have a hankering to do laundry. Call me crazy but I do. In my own laundry room at my own house.
I have a rubbermaid container sitting at the bottom of my closet at my school house full to the brim of my laundry, sweatshirts, undies, socks, Ts, and jeans, all begging to be cleaned. I even bought a pack of underwear(s) at Wal-mart last week so I wouldn't run out this week and be forced to go comando —living life on the edge.
They look like little girl underwear though. They have a thick elastic band surrounding the waist and pink polka dots and flowers. Gag. Isn't there anything better to chose from?
My laundry room just sits at home waiting for me. With its pretty dark denim blue walls and the stark, white lace curtain (Adrie, cue gag). The tiles been have barely walked on by me, and the washer and dryer barely used.
Oh and the door! The door is the best.
What's special about the door, you ask? Well nothing really. It just a normal door that can be opened and closed at will, but that's the point! I can start the washer—overloaded, bogged down with heaving quilts, so that it clunks and bangs, of course—close the door and leave it behind. I don't have to hear it!
It's the little things people!
Well, I suppose. The Spin 'n' Go laundromat awaits.
Enjoy your day,

Well wishes

I got stuck reading The Pioneer Woman Ree Drummond's blog tonight (funny I was so tired at The Eagle for production night tonight, and now, at 12:13 a.m. I am wide awake!) Anyway, she got me thinking about the little things in life — I really hope someone graces me with her cookbook from our registry. If I got that cookbook and lots and lots of cards with well-wishes and nothing else, I would be a happy girl, because I like cards. A dutch oven would be nice too, though, because she has a few dutch oven recipes. But enough of that!

Anyway, (again), I would love a house full of kids that I can homeschool. At least until about fifth grade, at which point they will outsmart me. Until then I have lots of little goals and dreams.

What am I going to do until homeschooling begins? I already have little money-making ideas for when they're in school, and I'm going to enjoy every minute of that(because they're all little craft-projects that sell well), but what about until then?

Journalism isn't really a large-salary, breadwinning sort of career. It's a couple bucks for a photo here and there, when I get lucky. But it's my path. I enjoy it, and sometimes that's important too.
I would really like to work for The Wolsey News. I have some big dream of sweeping in there, knocking their socks off with my knowledge of AP style, and wham-bam, thank you ma'am, I'm hired.
That's probably not going to happen. The newspaper is 88"(which is not a lot) of mostly ads and some photos every seven days. They're fine without me. Sure they have typos, but that's no big deal. Not really.

There's the Miller Press though. Miller is about 20 miles away or so. At least that's what 'Cephus tells me. I guess I even drove through it one time, but at that point, I was driving to see Boe, and I hadn't seen him in a month because I was trapped at school. I wasn't really paying attention. Plus I had already put in six hours in the pickup, hauling a trailer and four horses. I was getting stump butt.
The Miller Press is another option though. But for whatever reason, I don't feel nearly as driven to work for them when I can work on my little podunk Wolsey paper. There's a certain level of pride associated with provided fellow Wolseyans with a prime chunk of inky newsprint every Wednesday.

There's always the Huron Daily Plainsman or the Argus Leader (a Sioux Falls newspaper), but they don't seems like the right fit either. They're bigger papers, with shoddy layout, and a less-than-average reputation—at least I have heard such things about the Plainsman.

Horses are always an option for me. I could make the world of horse trading only slightly better with nice horses that are worth a little som'som. I'm not altogether very sticky though, and if I run across some broncy little colts, my short legs won't do the trick in helping me stay aboard!

Photography has always been fun for me, and something to develop and build upon. I'd love to shoot local rodeos, and 4-H events. Even senior photos and family shoots would be fun as well. Interesting. So many fun things to accomplish!

Boe has the brilliant idea that he and I can become top notch bit makers... He'd form the actual bit and I would do the silver stuff. He knows someone who could teach me (us). He said I could learn to make earrings and other girl stuff while he learns to make bits properly. Hmmm.
I still would also like to learn to make leggings and other leather shenanigans.

Lord knows I won't be a famous banjo-picker, but I've been enjoying playing it all the same. Thanks, sweetie, for my early Christmas gift! What a wonderful man!

What to do, what to do?

Chris Cagle gained baby weight... wait, what?

Hi all!
Chris Cagle, country star, came to CSC for homecoming this year. As opposed to posed photos as I am, these are kind of nice. My maid of honor Morgan Minten made it to Chadron and came to the concert with me. She just recently moved to Nebraska, so that is way fun, but now I'm bummed, because I'll graduate in December and leave her behind.
About the chubby Chris Cagle– he explained during the concert that his wife just had a baby six months ago. He said he would feel bad if his wife ate and he didn't. Anyway, he was a tad tubby, but that's okay.
Enjoy!

Life of the Rices

Staying at the Rice's is always a wonderful photo opportunity, especially with three red-heads with silly grins! Thanks, Rices, for letting me invade your home and bunkhouse for a few days!
Enjoy!

We had some pretty good games of tag going. Alamar had the advantage, but she wouldn't readily admit it.
